Dumagute City, The City of Gentle People or simply an island of paradise. Dumaguete is the capital City of Negros Oriental. The city located at the Cental Visayas Island in the Philippines. The Home of the city’s pride, Silliman University, the first and oldest American Protestant School outside Metro Manila since 1901.
Traveling to Dumaguete one can reach via airline flights from Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. Alternative travel route will be by Bus from Bacolod and Cebu. Other way around is by Fastcraft from Cebu, Bohol and Dapitan and by layback slow boats from Cebu, Manila, and Cagayan De Oro City.Dumaguete attracts expats who marked this city their favorite hub and home of retired foreigners in which the city gain its reputation as one of the cities in the country with lowest crime rates, and most likely not as one of those polluted cities in the Philippines. Dumaguete is also gaining its popularity from Eco-Tourism and considered as one of the favorite BPO hubs outside the Metro Manila. There are several Diving spots nearby like the world renowned Apo Island, a marine sanctuary. A tempting good beaches around the area like in Manjuyod White Sand Bar, manage by the local government which considered as very exotic beach and its crystal white sands. One cannot also forget kookoo’s Nest, a backpacker’s favorite beach resort that reminds a traveler of the movie “The Beach”. There are several beaches around the city like in Dauin, Zamboangita, and Siaton area that are also good with its volcano color sands, coral stone sands and some areas got white sands simply so native and beautiful beaches around the island.One can go for nature trip to nearby places like Lake Balanan, The Twin Lakes of Balinsasayaw and Danao. The ideal for backpacker’s adventure to visit surely is Mt. Talinis and Caseroro Falls, a haven for nature lovers. Other amazing places to visit the island can offer the Cayaso Cave and Underground Water ideally for people who love caving and bat sightings. The perfect gateway for out of the city trip, Tambobo Bay where you can see a lot of yacht resting by with those friendly expats living on it and don’t forget to take your rest while at Tambobo bay at Tongo Sail Inn, the beach resort for boat lovers. If you want to dip to a cold ice water, Dumaguete has it, Forrest Camp and Valencia Tejeros Swimming Pool, a great place to relax with family and smell the cold air. For Dolphin and Whale watching is also available at nearby Bais City.The Boulevard, a spot listed in history books, is where the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal took a rest before going to Dapitan City. The Boulevard is the mini version of Roxas Boulevard in Metro Manila where you can find bars, pension houses and nearby hotels.One can take by foot to roam around this small city and do a leisure walk around two nature parks, Quezon Park and Freedom Park. One could visit the alluring structure of Cathedral Church and take a look at the old Bell Tower just at the center of the city.

For educational trip, one can go to Zoo Paradise of the World located at the mountain of Brgy Salngan, Zamboangita which founded by the late Father Tropa. Another zoo can also be found at the city, the Silliman Zoo and if you wish to see huge clamps, breed fishes and breed crocodiles just go to Silliman University Marine Laboratory.Tired of the hot tropical weather, one can go to Canlaon City and a town nearby to Dumaguete called Valencia, an alternative place where the weather is similar to Tagaytay and Baguio known for their cold temperatures during the day and night.
